The Siri Web AppIt's been around, but it's new to me!Siri has been around for a year or so, but I am just discovering it. It is a cool app that has caused me hours of fun. Still it goes under my category on my app groups as "Productivity". It is dubbed as your "personal assistant". Once you have logged in, you are presented with a screen of choices. You can pick one by tapping or by voice! This app has a pretty awesome voice recognition engine. Some of the choices you are presented with are: Restaurants, Movies, Events, Local Businesses, Reminders, Taxis, Weather, Twitter, etc. Yes, you can Tweet by voice. Nice! It works by using your location (that's right - gps) and finding businesses near you. Siri partners with several businesses to bring the best information to you in your area. I already checked in to see if I can get my business to show up in Siri. 411 Design Street doesn't show up there. So this sent me on a mission to see where the information was coming from and more importantly why my business isn't showing. I found that amoung a number of paying directories, Siri pulls information from some free ones, too. Google maps, Yahoo, and Yelp are some of the free services. 411DS is listed with all of those and yet doesn't show up. While I don't like that my business can't be found, I intend to find out why. So prepare yourself, Compadres, for a future Sequel to this little ditty! |
